Description
The journals of Henrietta Marchant Liston (1751-1828) the wife of Scottish diplomat Robert Liston. Robert Liston was appointed British Minister to the United States in the period following the American War of Independence and later served as British Ambassador to the Sublime Porte at Constantinople (Istanbul). Covering 1796-1801 and 1812-1820, Henrietta's journals recount the Listons' life and travels in the United States, Canada and the West Indies, and in the Ottoman Empire.
