In 1955 Evelyn Camrass was the youngest member of the first all-woman Himalayan expedition. She was an all-round athlete, a good swimmer, keen hockey player and one-time president of the University of Glasgow mountaineering club.
A qualified obstetrician she was also the expedition's doctor.
