Churchill supports Haig

Winston Churchill was Minister of Munitions in 1918, and made frequent visits to the forces at the Front.

Churchill had a good working relationship with Douglas Haig. On 12 April 1918 he wrote to Haig in this secret cipher:

'I cannot resist sending you a message of sympathy and sincere admiration for the magnificent defence you are making day after day and of profound confidence in the result.'
