| Description | His Royal Highness, Arthur, Duke of Connaught (1850-1942) in the left foreground, and two officers to the right. In the background troops are drawn up in ranks across a narrow valley, with higher, wooded, ground behind. They are all raising their hats and apparently cheering. The Duke of Connaught was the seventh child of Queen Victoria. From 1911-1916 he had served as Governor General in Canada, but at the end of his term in office in 1916, he remained in the military for the rest of the war.
