They are standing in a marquee and the King is placing his sword above the Commanders right shoulder. A group of uniformed men look on. John Warwick Brooke is believed to have taken this photograph. The King bestowed many honours and presented numerous medals in recognition of loyalty and bravery, during his visits to the Front.
