THIS Institution was foiihded for the purpose of securing Provisions payable
during life. This object is effected by the Mutual Contributions of Members
to Schemes opened in each year, to be divided respectively, at the end of certain fixed
periods, amongst the Survivors of each Scheme. By thus combining the advantages
of Survivorship Life Assurance with the improvement of money by judicious
investments, this Society presents the most advantageous method of providing for any
contingent event.
The leading objects of the Society are —
I. To secure a Fund for After Life. That this can be effected, by means of
this Society, upon terms more advantageous than are offered by any other institution,
will be seen from the following illustrations: — If a professional man at the age of 25
secures 10 shares in a Scheme of this Society, the Funds of which will be divided at
the end of 25 years, he will, in the event of the Society progressing as favourablyas
h therto, receive, at the age of 50, such a sum as would purchase a Government annuity
of .£108, while the same annual contribution, if paid to a respectable Assurance Com-
pany would secure a deferred annuity, to commence at the same age of only <£67, 12s.
Or/again, if the same party were to join the 30 years' Scheme, he could, for the trifling
contribution of ,£16, 0s. 10d., secure such a sum as would, at the age, of 55, purchase
a Government annuity of ^£135, whilst, for a similar premium, an Assurance Company
would secure him a deferred annuity of only £74, 15s. Such advantages as these this
Society is enabled to offer, as it has been established for the express purpose of transact-
ing this Department of Business only, on the most favourable terms, and not to realize
profits to be distributed amongst a body of Proprietors, or amongst a class of Assurers,
having separate rights or interests.
