LIFE DEPARTMENT.
The Accumulated Premiums are over £1,650,000. The Annual Income exceeds £170,000.
BONUSES have been declared on some Policies to an amount GREATER THAN THE SUM
ORIGINALLY ASSURED.
PREMIUMS HAVE BEEN EXTINGUISHED where the parties assured have applied the Bonus in
reduction of the Annual Premium.
The Bonus up to Christmas, 1864, was the eighth declared by the Company; the first being up to
Christmas, 1823. The total Surplus divided amongst the Assured up to the present time, amounts to the
sum of £1,253,106 in actual money, and is represented by a still larger reversionary sum payable at death.
The next valuation will be made up to Christmas, 1869.
The sum of £4,301,661 has been paid during the existence of the Office for claims under Life Policies, of
which amount a very considerable part was for Bonuses.
Persons assuring in Great Britain have the option of —
PARTICIPATING RATES OF PREMIUM, or of NON-PARTICIPATING RATES.
The Rates of Premium have been adjusted in accordance with a long experience, and bear equitably on
all ages.
The Non-Participating Scale is particularly adapted to parties wishing to assure a fixed sum only, at a
fixed rate of Premium, and on low terms.
Combined provision may be made for Old Age and Early Death, so that a person may secure a sum of
money for himself, to be paid at a stipulated Age, if be should live so long, or to be paid to his Executors if
he should die before that age. This feature in the Atlas Office arrangements deserves particular atten-
tion, as likely to meet the requirements of a large number of persons.
No extra Premium is required for the voyage to or residence in any part of Europe during peace ; nor on
the lives of persons in the Army or Navy while residing in the United Kingdom in time of peace.
Residence in countries beyond the limits of Europe is allowed on favourable terms ; in most temperate
climates without extra premium ; a moderate charge being made for the voyage only.
Whole World Assurances are granted.
