2. Computation of Distances. — The distance shall be computed from the stand or
place whence the Carriage may happen to be engaged or hired ; but, in case the
Carriage should be taken from any place of public assembly or amusement, the dis-
tance shall be computed from such place of assembly or amusement.
_ 6. Detention. — If the Driver of any such Carriage be detained in the course of
his hire above fifteen minutes at any place or places, except when detained by the
hirer for the purpose of returning, as hereinafter provided, he shall receive for every
fifteen minutes' detention Sixpence.
7. Detention — to Return at Half-fare. — In any of the following cases, it shall be
at the option of the hirer to detain the Carriage, and return in the same, on pay-
ment of Half-fare, without additional charge for detention.
Where the hire of a Carriage of the First Class shall amount to Two Shillings or
upwards, or, if of the Second Class, to One Shilling or upwards, and the de-
tention shall not exceed one quarter of an hour.
Where the hire of a Carriage of the First Class shall amount to three Shillings
or udwards, or, if of the Second Class, to Two Shillings or upwards, and the
detention shall not exceed half an hour.
Where the hire of a Carnage of the First Class shall amount to Four Shillings
or up^yards, or if of the Second Class, to Three Shillings or upwards, and the
detention shall not exceed one hour.
8. Persons calling or sending for a Carriage, and not further employing the
same. — Any person calling or sending for any such Carriage, and not further em-
ploying the same, shall pay as follows :— For a Carriage of the First Class, One
Shillings; for a Carriage of the Second Class, Eightpence ; or the fare from the
stand or place from which the Carriage may be engaged. And if the person calling
the Carriage shall detain the same, he shall further pay for any time that the
Carriage shall be detained— not exceeding a quarter of an hour, Sixpence ; and for
any further time ntt exceeding a second quarter of an hour, if a Carriage of the
First Class, Sixpence ; and if a Carriage of the Second Class, Fourpence ; and for
any further time, in like proportion.
9. Oivner, §-c., to charge by Time or Distance.— In all cases it shall be at the
option of the Owner or Driver to charge by Time or Distance.
14. Number of Licence, ^c, insiae the Carriage. —The Number of the Licence,
â– with the Name of the Owner, on a card, shall be placed conspicuously inside the
Caraiage ; and there shall also be printed on such card, under the number, the fol-
lowing words and figures; which card shall be fixed, and be legible during all the
time the carriage shall ply for hire: — .
Fare-and-half from 11 p.m. to 1 a.m.
Double Fare from 1 a.m. to 6 a.m.
Fare by time — each hour, . . 23. Cd fg. cd.
And foi* a longer time in iroportion.
