EXCERPT FROM THE BY-LAWS AND FARES FOR HACKNEY-
COACHES AND OTHER CARRIAGES.
At Glasgow, the twenty-ninth day of March, eighteen hundred and forty-five. — ■
The Magistrates of Glasgow being convened, did, and do hereby, in virtue of the
191st Section of the Act for Regulating the Police of the said City, enact and or-
dain the following By-Laws for Better Regulating Hackney-Coaches and other
Carriages plying for hire within the limits of the said Act : —
1 . Public Stands appointed, and Number of Carriages allowed to be on Stands at
one time. — In addition to the respective coach-houses or stable-yards of the Owners'
of such Carriages, the following places are hereby appointed Public Stands ; and no
more than the following number of Carriages shall be allowed to be placed on any
of the Stands at one time, unless by authority of the Magistrates ; that is to say.
