at such other places as the Magistrates from time to time
may appoint.
7mo, Coachmen are not on any account to plead prior
engagements when their services are required, nor shall
they be allowed to draw to one side -of the stand under
pretence of being engaged, so as to have the pick of
work, but their coaches being on, or near the stand, to
be considered a proof of their bemg disengaged.
8vo, That upon failure of performing any engagement
undertaken .by any of the owners of hackney-coaches or
their coachmen, they shall be liable in a penalty of ten
shillings, and also forfeit any claim for hire, for having
performed part of the engagement only.
Qno, That no fares higher than those in the prefixed
table shall be demanded or taken ; and if any coachman
shall be convicted of imposing on his employers, or ab-
stracting the fares from his master, he shall be punished
with severity; and every coachman shall have in his
pocket a .printed copy of these regulations and annexed
tables on a pieoe of paiehment to be kept in a tin-box,
with the number of his coach painted on it, to be in pos-
session of the coachman at all times when on duty, and
which must be shewn to every employer when demanded,
under a penalty not exceeding five shillings.
10w?o, That any coachman on misbehaviour, by abusive
language or otherwise, upon being convieted : thereof, the
Magistrates may revoke his licence,' or inflict a penalty ;
and on non-payment he shall be committed to prison till
the same is paid.
1 Imo, That the coachman, after setting down a com-
pany, shall drive to the nearest stand, and if the number
of coaches ordered to stand there is not complete, he shall
remain for the service of the public.
l2mo, That at least one-fourth part cf the coaches by
.1813.
