INSURANCE ON LIVES.
Two different objects being generally contemplated in
effecting Life Insurances, some persons desiring to secure
only a fixed and certain Sum to be received at their De-
cease, and to pay no more than maw be sufficient for that
purpose, while others preter paying larger Premiums for
the purpose of participating in the Septennial Profits, the
Directors have caused tables to be prepared, by which an
option is given to effect Insurances in either way ; those
who may desire to Insure only for a certain Sum, may do
so at rates calculated on the lowest scale of charge con-
sistent with the safety of the Insured, and a fair remune-
ration to the Company ; others who wish both to Insure
and to become participators in the Profits, may do so at
Premiums computed at an increased rate of charge; and
persons Assured for the Whole of Life upon that higher
scale, will be entitled to receive their proportion of three-
fourths of the Profits arising from all the Insurances of
that Class. The Profits will be declared every Seven
Years, but no Insurer will be entitled to participate there-
in until he shall have paid Six Annual Premiums — such
Profits may be appropriated, either as additions to the
Sum Insured, or in diminution of the Annual Premium
payable on the Policy, the Assurer making his election at
the time the division of Profit is made.
