archdeaconry of Lothian, as Alexander had doubted the validity
of his title; for he had shown that Richard had never held Dunkeld
legally, and that it was vacant not by Richard’s promotion but by
the death outside the curia of Ingeram de Ketnes, late archdeacon.
Alexander is to hold the archdeaconry whether vacant by Richard’s
promotion, or by Ingeram’s death, or by the death at the curia of
Richard Hunter who had been provided to the archdeaconry, or in
any other way, notwithstanding that he is known to hold a canonry
and prebend in the church of Moray which he is to demit on his
peaceful assecution to Dunkeld, and the parish church of Caldor-
comitis, value not exceeding 120 gold francs to a non-resident.

woman to be promoted to all holy orders and to hold a benefice, of
a benefice in the gift of any person of any dignity, state, grade or
order in the diocese of Sodor and the deanery of Kintyre, Argyll
diocese, of the kind wont to be assigned to secular clerks, to the
value of 25 merks sterling if with cure, and to the value of 18 merks
sterling if without cure.

canon of Segorbe. Mandate to confirm John de Merton, rector of
the parish church of Racho, St Andrews diocese, d.dec., in posses¬
sion of a canonry of Glasgow and the prebend of Glasguprimo, value
not exceeding 100 merks sterling. John had been provided to the
archdeaconry of Teviotdale and a certain William MacMoryne had
been provided to the said canonry and prebend, but wishing an
exchange they had resigned their respective benefices outside the
