To master John Alfonsi de Majorico, dean of the church of Com-
postella, papal notary. Mandate to surrogate John Daigles, clerk,
Glasgow diocese, to the rights to a canonry of Glasgow and the
prebend of Alincrum, claimed by William de Govan, calling himself
priest Glasgow diocese, and John is then to be provided to the said
canonry and prebend. A dispute had arisen over the canonry and
prebend between John and William, and initially master James de
Mansogonchardo, papal chaplain and auditor of appeals, and then
master William Avaginis, papal chaplain and auditor of appeals, and
finally the above mandatory had successively been appointed to hear
and decide the case; but no decision had been reached when William
resigned all his rights into the hands of John, bishop of Mende, papal
referendary at the curia, who by special mandate admitted the
resignation and therefore the above surrogation is granted.1

To Robert de Conyngham, perpetual vicar of the parish church of
Galliston, Glasgow diocese. Indult for Robert, kinsman of James,
king of Scots, and of Robert, duke of Albany, governor of Scotland,
student of canon law at Orleans, dispensed of a defect of birth as
the son of an unmarried man and an unmarried woman to be pro¬
moted to all holy orders and to hold a benefice even if with cure by
virtue of which he had obtained the said parish church, to hold a
canonry and prebend, a dignity, parsonage or office and any other
compatible benefice provided it is not a major or principal dignity
in a cathedral or collegiate church.
