182 LETTERS OF POPE BENEDICT XIII

To the official of St Andrews. Mandate to collate John de Samuel-
ston, priest, Dunkeld diocese, to the perpetual vicarage of the parish
church of Telyne, Dunkeld diocese, vacant by the death outside
the curia of Ingeram de Ketnes, late rector [sic],

To Richard de Cornel, archdeacon of Dunkeld, lic.dec. Indult for
Richard, of noble birth, and envoy of Robert, duke of Albany
to the pope, to receive his d.dec. from any regent despite the fact
that he had been presented for his lic.dec. to Giles, bishop of
Avignon and chancellor of the university by Francis, abbot of the
monastery of St Genevieve, Paris, os A, d.dec., then infirmarius of
the church of Avignon; and after obtaining the licenciate he had
sworn on oath not to receive his doctorate from any other university
or at the presentation of any other but Francis. This is granted on
the grounds that Francis is travelling in remote parts and Richard
does not have the letter testimonial of his licenciate.

To John Stewart, sub-dean of Glasgow, lic.dec. Indult for John,
kinsman of James, king of Scotland, to hold along with the sub¬
deanery of Glasgow, an office virtually with cure as the sub-dean
acts in the absence of the dean which is an office with cure, another
benefice even if with cure, provided it is not a major dignity in a
cathedral or collegiate church, with powers of exchange at the
hands of the ordinary outside the curia for two incompatible
benefices, provided they are not two parish churches, two major or
principal dignities in cathedral or collegiate churches or one a major
and the other a principal dignity, or one a parish church and the
other either a major or principal dignity.
