To the bishop of Sodor, the provost of St Andrews in Grenoble and
the official of Glasgow. Indult. Celestine Celestini called Macgille-
michael, priest, Argyll diocese, had been dispensed of his defect of
birth as the son of a priest and an unmarried woman to be promoted
to all priests orders and to hold benefices. Subsequently he had been
presented to and peaceably possessed the parish church of St Katani
de Lognyghe, same diocese, a benefice in lay patronage. After its
despoilation by powerful laymen he had been presented by the
nobleman Colin Cambell, doncel, Argyll diocese, lord of Lochalba,
to Bean, bishop of Argyll, for institution in the parish church of
St Molrue de Melferth, said diocese, vacant by the death outside the
curia of its rector, Dugald Machenrych; and notwithstanding he
lacked a papal dispensation he held the said church of St Molrue,
value not exceeding 18 merks sterling, as he does at present. All stain
and inhability contracted through this by Celestine is now abolished
by papal authority, but he is held to demit the church which, how¬
ever, he is then dispensed to hold if it is canonically conferred on
him, along with any other benefice with or without cure, even if a
canonry and prebend of a cathedral, with powers of exchange as
often as he wishes for similar or dissimilar benefices; but on his
peaceful assecution to St Molrue he is held to demit the church of
St Katani.

To Nigel Colini Cambel, archdeacon of Argyll. Indult for Nigel,
kinsman of James, duke of Rothesay, son of Robert, king of Scots,
to hold another benefice compatible or incompatible, with or
without cure provided it is not a major or principal dignity in a
