To the abbot and convent of Arbroath, osb. Indult. It had been
shown to the pope that the bell towers of the church of the monastery
had been burned by lightning and had collapsed, and that as the
monastery is situated on the shores of the sea it is burdened by
having to grant hospitality, and because their rents and profits were
diminished by the ravages of war they were unable to effect repairs
or grant this hospitality; so permission is granted at the petition of
Robert, king of Scots, to unite and incorporate the perpetual
vicarages of the parish churches of Invemys value not exceeding
34 merks, Fyvy value not exceeding 33 merks, Tarvis value not
exceeding 32 merks, and Monyfeithe value not exceeding 30 merks.
Moray, Aberdeen and St Andrews dioceses, reserving a fitting
portion for the perpetual vicars, whose presentation is to pertain
to the said abbot and convent, to enable them to pay bishops’ dues
and to support these other burdens.

To John, abbot of Arbroath, osb. Indult for John to reserve four
benefices for four suitable people, even if they hold, or have expecta¬
tion of one or two benefices from eleven perpetual vicarages with
cure in St Andrews diocese, seven in Aberdeen diocese, and two
in Moray diocese, of the kind wont to be assigned to secular clerks,
in gift of the said abbot and convent, and the collation to which
is in the hands of the bishops of the said dioceses, to the value of
30 merks sterling if conferred on graduates in theology, civil or
canon law, and to the value of 20 merks sterling if conferred on any
