Seeds for the garden

Henry Fergussone of Blackfriers Wynd Head, Edinburgh, produced a catalogue of garden seeds in 1681. It was probably the first of its kind in Scotland.

Fergussone offered a wide range of seeds, some imported from Holland, including several different varieties of peas, lettuce and onions.

The business seems to have prospered, as another more extensive catalogue was drawn up 10 years later.
