The Subdivisional Officer, Deoghur, re-
ported an outbreak of cattle-diseaae
and he was requested to appoint a
Veterinary Assistant. But the
Deputy Commissioner, Sonthal
Parganas, did not think the services
of a Veterinary Assistant necessary
the disease having disappeared.

hal also reported cattle-disease, and
requested to send some instrnetions-
A few copies of Ha lien's Manual
(Bengali) were sent to him.

The Deputy Commissioner of Chota
Nagpur obtained sanction of Go-
vernment to the appointment of a
Veterinary Assistant in the districts
of Ranchi and Palamau for three
months. Candidates were invited
for the post, but as no one came
for ward, the matter was lost sight
of for a few months. A Veterinary
Assistant was recently sent to
Ranchi but too late to be of use.

was asked if he would appoint a
Veterinary Assistant, and he inform-
ed that the apparent increase of
deaths of cattle was due to better
reporting and not to the outbreak of
any unusual diseases, and so he was
not prepared to entertain the ser-
vices of a Veterinary Assistant.
