237. Right honorabill sir, for occurrantis, the Parliament rais this eftirnoone, and 1,
being all the tyme in the Parliament hous, hard and saw the particularis follow-
ing voittit and concludit : — First, for the clairgie :
1. It is inactit that his Maiestie, out of his prerogative, injune habitis for
thame. This act wes greatbe opposit be Rothos, Cassils, and vtheris ; for Rothos
stuid up, and acknoledgit the first member thairof of the Kingis prerogative,
bot disentit fra the injunctioun of habeits. The King ansueret it wes no voitt,
and aither say I or no. The voittis wer equalie almost devydet ; ansuering
they disagriet fra that act as it wes conceavit. Bot sindrie nobilmen heving
proxies for vthers that wer absent, kariet thair voittis lykwyis with thame, and
so establisht.
2. Secundhe. It is inactit and ratifiet, the haill privdedgis of the church
of befoir, grantit be quhatsumevir statuitis or actis of parliament. These quho
disagriet fra the former act, lykwyis fra this, alleclging it includet the privdedgis
at Pearth, and so wes generaU. The King sayd nothing done or craivit thairin
bot quhat wes formarlie be parliament, and now to be ratifiet, and that he
mycht vse any former actis withowt ratificatioun : being lykwyis ovirvoittit,
wes establishit. The King all this tyme had the whoill rollis in his hand of all
that had voyce, and wrett ay, quhill the parliament rais, all the voittis pro et
contra, and to quhat actis, and knew the whoill alsweill as the dark.
