204 FAMILY AND DOMESTIC LETTERS. [1629.
Maiestie desyrs the Counsel! but especially the Bishope of St. Androws, (for to
him is the lettre directit,) to superceid the executioune of Kirk disciphn against
him till his Maiestie be informed be the Counsell wpoune the contrarie. This
is all that is so much talked of. Thirdly, as tuiching the complaint movid to
the Lords of Counsell against the Circuit Courts, the Counsell hes heard the
sainine, and hes ordainit letters to be wryttinne vnder the handis of the Lordis
of Counsell to the severall commissionars of Justiciarie dischargeine; thame of
the punisching of thes quho ar guiltie of the break of any of the penall statuits
quhois break preceids August 1628 : as also discharging thame simphciter of
proceiding against the transporters of linine cloth furth of the countrey. Ferdly
and lastly, anent the supphcatioune moved be the toune of Glasgow against
the toune of Lanerk for esemptioune of thes within the regalitie of Glasgow
quho ar clilait to be attaitchit to the circuit to be holdinne within the Tolbuith
of Lanerk, from coming to Lanerk, bot that the Lords wold dispense with the
place, and suffer thame to remaine in Glasgow, and thair to be tiyed, they have
refuised to heir thair supplicatioune qwhill first the toune of Lanerk be cited
to heir the exemptioune grantit. Thes ar all that wer doune the last counsell
day. Quhen farder occurs I sail not be unmyndful of my selfe, for by so doiug
I wold forgett you in clewti and affectioune, but shall advertise yow as possibly
I can heav occasioune, and matters falls furth. Wnto the quhilk tyme (being
remembred to your worship), and for ever I remaine, as I ougcht to be,

be your worship as be my self,
