(474) John Hamilton, died v.p., but married Margaret Spreule, and left a son : —
(475) John Hamilton of Buthernock and Bardowie, killed at Barskeith 1526.
He married, first, Mariot Maxwell, and, later, Margaret Weir, and had
issue : —
(a) John Hamilton, killed, with his father, 1526.
(b) Allan (No. 476).
(c) Robert Hamilton. Will recorded 26th February 1549-50
(Glasgow).
(d) Andrew Hamilton.
Hri1l0 on Seal, 1527. — On a chevron between three cinquef oils
a (? boar) head erased contourne' {Duntreath Charters, ex
inf. Macdonald).
(476) Allan Hamilton of Bardowie, killed by Colin Campbell of Duan before
1539. Will recorded 27th December 1589 (Edinburgh). He is men-
tioned for his share in the murder of Alexander Hamilton, young Laird
of Auchinhowy, 5th December 1530 {Criminal Trials). He married
Mariot Stirling, and had : —
(477) John Hamilton of Bardowie, died c. 1586. He married a daughter of
Andrew Alexander of Menstrie, and had issue : —
(a) John (No. 478).
(b) James (No. 479).
(c) William Hamilton.
(d) Humphrey Hamilton.
(e) Allan Hamilton. Will recorded 30th January 16 12 (Edin-
burgh). He was served heir to his brother, Humphrey,
1st December 1610.
(/) Adam Hamilton. Will recorded 21st June 1627 (Edin-
burgh). He was served heir to his brothers, William
and Allan, 16th August 161 1.
(478) John Hamilton of Bardowie. Will recorded 25th May 1605. He mar-
ried Janet Napier, died s.p., and was succeeded by his brother : —
(479) James Hamilton of Bardowie. Married Marion, daughter of Patrick
Houston of that Ilk.
HnT10 on Seal, 1595. — On a chevron between three cinque/oils a {beast) head
erased. In Font's MS., 1624 (addition). — Gules, a chevron between three
cinquef oils argetit.
He had :—
(480) John Hamilton of Bardowie. Will recorded 14th March 1656 (Stirling).
He married Mary, daughter of Alexander Douglas of Mains. Her Will
recorded 26th September 1672 (Glasgow). Their son was : —
(481) John Hamilton of Bardowie, living 1674. He married Anne Livingstone,
and had : —
(a) John (No. 482).
(b) Alexander Hamilton.
(482) John Hamilton of Bardowie, living 1699. He married Joanna, daughter
of James Hamilton, and had issue: —
(a) John (No. 483).
(b) Robert Hamilton of Hamilton Hill. Will recorded 15th
May 1777 (Glasgow). He married Helen Graham.
