securities as may secure the said Erie in the possessioun of the
saidis richtis and offices untill the compositioun and summe aftir spe-
cifiet extending to the summe of Ane thousand punds sterling, be
reallie and trewlie payit be His Majestie to the said Erie, hes
airis, Executors, or Assignayis, thaikfoke the said Johne now
Erie of Sutherland, for obedience and fulfilling of his pairt of
the said Act, binds and obleissis him and his forsaidis to
resigne, renunce, surrander, and overgive fra him and his for-
saidis, in the hands of His Majestie and His Hienes' suc-
cessourris, and in thair favour all and haill the said heretable
richt and titill of Regalitie, togidder with the saidis heret-
able offices of Scherifschip and Crownerie of all and haill the said
Scherifdome of Sutherland, with the haill fees, privieledges, liber-
ties, commodities, and immunities perteining and belonging thair -
to, togidder with all and sundrie chartours, preceptis, seasingis, in-
feftmentis, and other richtis, titillis, and securities quhatsoevir
maid and grantit to the said Erie, his predecessours and authoris,
or conceivet in thair favour be quhatsumevir persoun or persounes
of and concerning the said heretable richt and titill of Begality
forsaid, and of the saidis heretable offices of Sherefschip and
Crownerie, liberties, privieledges, and casualties perteining thayrto,
togidder with all richt, titill, interest, clame of richt, propertie, and
possessioun, petitory, and possessory, actioun and instance which
the said Erie or his forsaidis had, hes, or ony wayis may have
clame or pretend thairto, or to ony pairt thairof, in time cuming,
reserving allenarlie to the said Erie and his forsaidis, the libertie
and privieledge of Baronn Courtis, pit and gallous, with the juris-
dictioun of Baronie, liberties and privieledges of the samyn within
so manie of the landis, baronies, Erledome and Schereffdome for-
said, quhilk the said Erie and his successours holdis, or sail hold
of His. Majestie, and His Hienes' successours in frie Baronie, and
no further, and for the better denuding of the said Erie and his
forsaidis of the heretable richt and titill of regalitie and heretable
offices of Schereffschip and Crownerie abovespecifiet with the pri-
vieledges and casualities perteining thairto, the said Erie hes maid,
constituted, and ordanet, and by the tenor heirof, makis, con-
stitutes, and ordaines James Douglas maister to the secreit coun-
sell and Exchekker, and ilk ane of thame conjunctlie and severallie,
