richteous pertinentis which are knawn to perteine to ane frie rega-
litie as amplie and surelie as any regalitie within the said kingdome
of Scotland is bruikit and possest, and sicklyke for sa meikle
as the said umquhile Johne Erie of Sutherland, be vertue of the
forsaid Chartour and Infeftment grantit be His Majesties said
umquhile darrest father of the dait forsaid, and Seasing following
thereupone, wes heritablie infeft in all and haill the heretable office
of Scherifschip of the Scherifdome of Sutherland comprehending
the boundis and limitis specifiet in the said infeftment. Lykeas be
the said Infeftment the said umquhile Erie and his airis, mail
and of taillie specifiet and contenit therein, are maid and creat not
onlie heretable Schereffis of the said Scherifdome, but also heret-
able Crowneris of the samyn Scherifdome, and in the saide Char-
touris and Infeftmentis of the daitis respectively above writtin at
mair lenth is contenit, and als forsamekill as the said Johne,
now Erie of Sutherland wes upone the seventene day of Apryll,
the zeir of God 1617 zeirs dewlie and lawfullie infeft and seaset as
air to the said umquhile Johne Erie of Sutherland, that last
deceaset his father, In all and haill the said richt and privieledge
of frie regalitie within the haill boundis of the said Erledome of
Sutherland, with the haill privieledges, liberties, commodities, eas-
mentis, and richteous pertinentis of the samyn, And also in all and
haill the saidis heretable offices of Scherefschip and Crownerie of
the said Scherefdome of Sutherland with the haill liberties, privie-
ledges, and immunities of the samyn within the haill boundis
thereof, as the said Infeftment of the dait forsaid at mair lenth
purports. And His Majestie being fnllie resolvet to have all the
heretable offices and jurisdictionnis within this kingdome drawen
and reducet to the Crowne and prerogative royall in the maist easie,
just, and commodious way, and His Majestie upone some offeris
and overtouris maid be the said Johne now Erie of Sutherland,
for surrandering of the saidis heretable offices in His Majestie's
handis for ane reasonabill satisfactioun having remittet the consi-
deratioun thereof to theCommissionaris of Surranderis and Teynds,
They be thair Act of the dait the 1 7 day of Junij, the zeir of
God 1631 zeiris, have fund the saidis offeris and overtouris reason-
abill in thameselves, and according thairto ordanet His Majestie's
Advocat to draw up ane perfyke and formale resignatioun of the
saidis offices and richtis of Regalitie, Scherifschip, and Crownerie
