their Club members take part, provided such races take
place at their Annual Gala and are confined to entrants
in the same employ.)
(c) Teams representing firms, bodies or Clubs (other than
unaffiliated Swimming Clubs) are exempt from the opera-
tion of the Unattached Law, provided the firms, bodies
or Clubs they represent have no recognised Swimming
Club.
(d) Affiliated Clubs shall not compete with Clubs who are
unaffiliated. Competitions between affiliated Clubs and
school teams, for which no prizes are offered, ur which are
limited to junior teams, are permissible.
(e) Entrants in races with an age limit must state their age
and previous performances, and, if required, furnish a
birth certificate or Statutory Declaration of Birth.
(f) A Novice is one who at the time of competing has never
won a prize in a similar class of open competition, i.e.,
winning a prize for plunging, diving, etc., or in any other
branch of sport, will not disqualify the winner from com-
peting as a novice in a swimming race, or vice versa. This
rule does not apply to prizes won at school.
Competing against Suspended Swimmers
40.
Any Amateur knowingly competing against one who is under
sentence of suspension shall be suspended for any period the
Executive of the District may determine.
Pace-making in public for a Professional or anyone under
sentence of suspension shall be regarded as a competition.
Service Associations
44• The Army Swimming Union, Royal Air Force Swimming
Association, and Royal Navy Amateur Swimming Association shall
be eligible to affiliate direct to the A.S.A., and such affiliation shall
entitle each organization to a representative on the A.S.A. Council,
and collectively to a representative on the A.S.A. Committee. The
clubs, officers, and men of the three Services shall be entitled to all
the privileges of affiliation to the A.S.A. and its District Associations,
with the following exceptions and variations :—
(a) The only District Championships in which their clubs,
officers and men shall be eligible to compete shall be those
of the District for which they hold the necessary qualifi-
cation, or similarly in the North-Eastern District, the
Championships promoted by the County Associations for
Northumberland and Durham, and Yorkshire.
(b) Each of the organizations named in this Rule shall be
entitled to one delegate to the Council of each District
Association.
The affiliation fee shall (c) be fixed each year by the A.S.A. Com-
mittee at its first meeting; (d) become due as from the Ist April in
each year; and (e) be equally divisible, on payment, between the
five District Associations.
