| Description | The Prince of Wales salutes a regiment as they file passed him during a march past. He is standing on a makeshift platform and has his right hand raised. Behind him, a flag with the Prince of Wales crest has been fixed to a flagpole. It is thought this photograph was taken by the official photographer, John Warwick Brooke. During his time at the Western Front following the British Army, Warwick Brooke captured many images of visiting dignitaries and members of royalty. During World War I, the Prince of Wales served as a staff officer in the army. He was determined to play an active role in the war, and did so, despite attempts to keep him away from the fighting.
