| Description | The Prince of Wales is standing on the right of this photograph. He is wearing full uniform and is positioned next to a fellow officer. It is a rather informal and unposed shot, with the Prince holding a cigarette in his left hand. Both men are smiling and look fairly relaxed. Another photograph in the Haig papers, also thought to have been taken by Warwick Brooke, shows the Prince of Wales with a group of officers. It is very likely this photograph was taken either before or after the group photograph. The same snow-covered scene has been used as the backdrop for both images. [Original reads: 'OFFICIAL PHOTOGRAPHS FROM THE FRONT IN FRANCE. Prince of Wales with some regimental officers.'] |
