| Description | The Prince of Wales standing on a quayside. According to the original caption, he is waiting for King George V and Queen Mary to arrive by boat. The Prince of Wales is waiting along with other men in uniform. They are all outside a wooden building, possibly a waiting room. A moored boat is visible on the left, and a carpet has been laid on the ground for the King and Queen to walk on. King George V and Queen Mary visited the Western Front on a number of occasions during World War I. During their visits, they took part in presentations and inspections and were given tours well behind the front line. [Original reads: 'THE KING VISITS THE WESTERN FRONT.
