DALLAS is a parish, about the centre of
-ihe county, 8 miles from north to south and
about 7 wide, it is in the Morayshire poor
combination and Forres small debt court
district. The village of same name is 11
miles south-west from Elgin and 9 south-
east from Forres, which is the nearest rail-
way station on the Highland line. The
countrv is hilly but fertile. There are
Established and United Free churches.
The Duke of Fife K.T., G.C.V.O. Sir W.
<G. Gordon-dimming bart. of Altyre, and
the trustees of Henry A. Grant esq. of
Craigmill, are the principal landowners.
'The area comprises 22,903 acres; rateable
value, £4,918; the population in 1901 was

DYKE and MOY is a parish, bounded
north-west by the Moray Firth and east and
south-east by the Findhorn bay and river,
and .west by Nairnshire, now wholly in this
county under an Order of the Boundary
Commissioners, in Nairn poor combination
and Forres small debt court district, and
measures from north bo south-west 7 miles,
by a breadth of 3£. The village of Dyke is
4 miles west-by-south of Forres. The branch
of the Highland railway from 'Nairn to
Forres passes through the parish, and has a
station at Brodie, 2 miles eouth of Dyke.
The southern portion of the parish is occu-
pied by part of Darnaway Forest, and the
castle of the same name lies close to the
border. There are two churches, an Estab-
lished and a United Free, also a public
school. The Earl of Moray, Ian Ashley

£8,773; the population in 1901 was 1,049.

EDINKILLIE is a parish south of
Forres and Rafford parishes, in the Nairn
poor comlblnation and Forres- small debt
court district. The river Divle, a tributary
of the Findhorn, flows through the parish.
The Dorboch, which unites with the Dlvie
before its junction with â–  the Findhorn,
rises in Loch an Dorb in the south of the
parish. The Highland railway passes from
north to south through the parish, with
Btations at Dava and Dunphail, and crosses
the Dlvie by a viaduct of seven arches, the
height from the surface of the water t«
the rails being about 110 feet. There are
several hills on the east side of the parish
ranging about 1,500 feet. The woods of
Darnaway on the west, and Altyre and
Logie on the east, are very extensive. The
church, which is in the centre of the parish,
and about 9 miles south from Forres,
stands on the banks of the Divif;. Dunphail
House, the residence of Earl of Elgin K.G.,
G.C.S.I., G.C.I.E., P.O., D.O.L. stands a
little north of the church, and near are the
ruins of the old castle. The ruins of a
castle also occupv an island in the loch.
The Earl of Moray, Sir W. G. Gordon-Cum-
m5ng bart. of AltyTe, Forres, the Scottish
Equitable Life Assurance Co. (as proprie-
tors of Dunphail) and Mrs. Smith, of
Relugas, are the principal landowners.
The area comprises 35,322 acres; rateable
value, £5,905 ; population dn 1901 was 869
in the civil and 827 in the ecclesiastical
parish.
