GLASGOW FEMALE BENEVOLENT SOCIETY.

This society was instituted in 1799, and is supported entirely by
voluntary contributions. It is thereby enabled to afford a small
but acceptable, monthly allowance to a limited number of aged and
destitute women {chiefly widows}, who are visited regularly at their
dwellings by a committee of ladies.
THE FIFE, KINROSS, AND CLACKMANNAN CHARITABLE
SOCIETY OF GLASGOW.
Instituted 15th December, 1837.

The Glasgow Fifeshire Society.
Instituted in 1759.

The main object of Ihu society is to afford pecuniary aid to
indigent persons in Glasgow, natives, or the desceudents or widows
of natives of Fife, Kinross, and Clackmannan. The subscription of
£1 Is. per annum for four years, or £ 4 4s. in one sum, constitutes
membership to parties eligible by connection with any of these
counties.
GLASGOW GALLOWAY BROTHERLY SOCIETY.

The society was instituted in 1791 for the purpose of providing a
fund out of which certain allowances might be made to the ordinary
members of the society during sickness, infirmity and superanna-
tion. The entry money for ordinary members is 103. 6d., besides
quarterly accounts in proportion to age. Honorary members are
admitted on payment of £1 Is. and upwards to the benevolent fund.

The society was instituted in the year 1806, and the sphere of its
operations includes the parliamentary boundary of the city of Glas-
gow situated on the south side of the river Clyde. The object of the
society is to afford pecuniary or other relief to the natives and old
inhabitants of the Barony of Gorbals,wbo are of respectable charac-
ter, have been in better circumstances, but reduced to a decayed and
indigent state ; and who, not being otherwise sufficiently provided
for, stand in need of the society's aid ; but no one receives assistance
from its funds who is in receipt of parochial relief. Advanced age,
urgent necessity, and respectability of character are indispensable.
Length of residence, next to nativity preferred, but applicants must
have one or other of these qualifications. Non residence at the time
of making application will not exclude from the benefits of the
society. No one is allowed to participate in the benefits of the
society who is under fifty years of age, unless labouring under per-
manent bodily infirmity. The treasurer supplies forms of applica-
tion for aid.
GRAHAM CHARITABLE INSTITUTION.
This society was instituted in the- year 1759, and was incorporated
by Seal of Cause from the Magistrates and Town Council of Glas-
gow, upon the 2nd Jan., 1770. None are eligible as members of the
society except persons of the name of Graham and their descen-
dants, or those married to individuals of that name or their* de-
scendants. The entry money to strangers is £5 5s., and to sons
and other lineal descendants, and sons-in-law of members, £3 8.
The managers are chosen annually in December

The objects of this society are, by the conducting of debates on
legal and speculative questions, to promote the legal and general
knowledge of its members, the habit of self-possessi'iu ; fluoncy and

tober tn April inclusive, during which period the society meets in the
Faculty Library every Tuesday evening at 8 o'clock.
