The Stirling, Alloa, and Kincardine Steamboat Company having
been dissoWed in the beginning; of 1874, their two steamers, the
Victoria, and the Prince of Wales, were exposed to sale by public
auction, and became the property of rival companies. Both steamers
plied during the summer of 1874 between Stirling, Alloa, Leith, and
Granton, calling at all the intermediate ports. During the summer
of 1875, the Victoria was the only steamer on the passage, but in the
spring of 1876 two new and powerful saloon steamers, the Lord Elgin
and Lord Mar — the property of the F»rth Eiver Steam Company —
were placed on the passage, and gave a great impetus to the passenger
trade. M. P. Galloway, Timber Bush, Leith, manager. The steamers
were withdrawn for the season September, 1877.
