CONSTITUTION.
THIS Association was established in the year 1839, for the purpose of carrying on the
business of Life Assurance in all its branches, on the most approved principles, under the
advice of the ablest legal authorities both of England and Scotland, and with a regard to the
If nv of both countries, so as effectually to secure the interests of the Assured residing in each. The
English and Scottish systems of Assurance being thus incorporated in the Constitution of this As-
sociation, parties insuring with the office of Scotland, besides participating in the Profits of the
Scotch business, are entitled to participate equally with the English Policy-holders in the profits de-
rived from the Extensive business carried on in England-
LOAN DEPARTMENT.
Policies effected with this Association immediately become available as a fund of credit, by
means of which the Policy-holders may, on liberal terms, obtain Loans upon undoubted personal
security, upon redeemable annuity, or upon the security of any description of assignable income or
property of adequate value.
Annuities immediate or deferred, and Endowments for Children, are granted on favour-
able terms.
GENERAL REGULATIONS.
No charge is made for Entrance Money beyond the Stamp for the Policy. Thirty days of
grace allowed for paying the Premiums after they become due. Losses paid within three months,
or immediately on discount being allowed. Liberal allowances made for Policies surrendered,
and the whole business of the Association uniformly conducted on the most liberal principles and
with the strictest secresy.
The Edinburgh Board of Directors meets every Monday at three o'clock, but any pro-
posal requiring dispatch will be disposed of on any other day if wished.
Further particulars, and all the necessary forms, may be had on application at the Head Office
in Edinburgh ; or from any of the Association's Agents in the principal towns of Scotland.
