FIRST INVESTIGATION OF THE AFFAIRS.
At the Annual General Meeting of Members held within the Head Office, on Thursday the
8th day of May, a detailed statement of the Affairs was read by the Manager, from which
it appeared that the Directors were enabled to declare a reduction of no less than
THIRTY PER CENT
on the current year's Premiums of the first series of policies entitled to participate in the Profits;
that is on all Policies opened on or before the 5th day of April 1841.
The importance of this boon to the Assured will appear sufficiently manifest from the following
table.
It thus appears that a party, aged 30, who opened a Poilcy for L.1000, on or before 5th
April 1841, then paid an Annual Premium of L. 24, 5s. 10d., while in the present year he will be
called upon to pay only L. 17, 0s. Id., and so on for any other age.
Further, it will be found that. the above specified reductions would enable parties still in good
health to open new Policies at their present respective advanced ages, as follows : —
Again, in illustration of the present position of a Policy taken out on or before 5th April
1841, by a Single Payment.
A party then aged forty-five who opened a Policy for £1000, made a single payment of
.£602, 3s. 4d. This year he" will be entitled to receive back the sum of .£11, lis. 6d., which is about
the Bank rate of Interest for the year on 'his original outlay ; besides having possessed all along
the facility of drawing out about four-fifths of his original advance on a simple deposit of the
Policy, and obligation to pay the ordinary rate of interest while he required the money.
Copies of the Report of the Meeting, (as well as of the original Pamphlet containing a full
exposition of the Principles and Practice of the Society,) may be had on application at the Head
Office or any of the agencies; where in like manner any further information required will be given.
By order of the Court of Directors,
