GROCER COMPANY OF GLASGOW.
This Society was instituted in 1789 for the purpose
of raising a fund to be applied towards the relief of
members, and the widows and children of members,
who might from misfortune require pecuniary aid.
Persons eligible for admission are grocers, or im-
porters of, or dealers in, one or other of the articles
afler-mentioned, or is the 'managing Director of a
Company registered under the Companies Acts,
1862 to 1890, and carrying on the business of a
grocer — namely, tea, coffee, sugar, spices, fruits,
wines, spirits, porter, soap, or ashes, who reside or
have their places of business in Glasgow or its
suburbs. The payment for admission is Ten Guineas.

NATURAL HISTORY SOCIETY OF GLASGOW.
Instituted 1851.
For the encouragement of the pursuit of natural
history in all its branches, by meetings for reading
of papers and exhibition of specimens, and by excur-
sions for field work. Candidates for membership are
recommended by two members of the society. The
society meets on the last Tuesday of the month
in the society's rooms, 207 Bath Street.

papers on art, lectures on art subjects, and other
kindred means.

THE INSTITUTION OF ENGINEERS AND
SHIPBUILDERS IN SCOTLAND (INCOR-
PORATED;).
Established to facilitate the exchange of informa-
tion and ideas amongst its members, to place on
record the results of experience elicited in discussion,
and to promote the advancement of science and prac-
tice in Engineering and Shipbuilding. The General
Meetings of the Institution take place monthly from
October to April inclusive, in the Hall of the Insti-
tution, 207 Bath Street. Monthly meetings of
the Graduate Section are also held during the session.
The Transactions of the Institution are published
monthly during the session, and in volume form at
close of session. The library of the institution con-
tains engineering and scientific works and the Trans-
actions of various societies.
