TBE CLAN MACLEAN ASSOCIATION.
Instituted 1892.
The objects are — the reviving, fostering, and pro-
moting of Clan interests and sentiments by collecting
and preserving records and traditions in any way
relating to the Clan; the cultivation of social inter-
course among the members ; the rendering of assis-
tance to necessitous and deserviuij Clansmen and
Clanswomen ; the encouraging of the study of the
Gaelic language and literature, and education gener-
ally. All persons bearing the surname of MacLean
in any of its various forms orspellings, includinti ladies
bearing the name either by parentage or by matriage,
also, persons bearing other surnames, but whose
maternal parent or grandparent was a MacLean, aie
eligible as members. Terms of membership, ordinary,
2s. 6d. per annum; extraordinary, 10s. 6d. per
annum ; life, one payment of £3 3s., ladies, £1 Is.

The objects of the Society are — (1) To afford
charitable relief to natives, or widows of natives of
Stirlingshire, or their descendants, and others con-
nected with Stirlingshire, resident in Glasgow and
the neighbourhood, or passing through Glasgow, who
are in need; and (2) the cultivation of friendly
intercourse between gentlemen connected with Stir-
lingshire.

This association sent out its forty-third report in
December last. Its chief work is carried on mainly
by the wives and daughters of elders of the Chnrch
of Scotland, to train;^ orphan and destitute girls as
domestic servants in the Home. It is undenomina-
tional in its benefits, and suitable applications are
at once entertained. Income from subscriptions and

The ohjt>cts of the Co-operation are — (a) To estab-
lish in Glasgow a central register for thoroughly
trained nurses, where tbey may be engaged by medical
practitioners and the public; (6) to provide nurses
with regular employment, and at the same time a
full remuneration for tbeir services ; (c) to establish
in Glasgow a central home where, while off duty,
nurses may live comfortably at moderate charges;
(d) to provide a fund for the benefit of the nurses of
the Co-operation.
Fully trained nurses supplied any time during the

This society is established to provide, at moderate
rates of premium, for the relief of members during
sickness or other infirmity, and for a sum to be paid
at death. The benefits are, 20s. per week during
sickness and £10 at death. Copies of rules and
forms of application may be had from the manager or
any of the office-bearers.
