I GLASGOW SCHOOL OF COOKERY AND
; DOMESTIC ECONOMY.— 86 Bath Street
Instituted 1875.
The school is managed by a Board of Directors
and a large Committee of ladies.

Public instruction is given in cookery, laundry"
work, sewing, dressmaking, and millinery. Pupils
may train as teachers of the above branches, and
qualify for the certificates and diplomas of the
Rational Union for the Technical Inbtruction of
Li Women in Don:estic Sciences. The executive com-
mittee receive applications for public teaching in
: other towns and villages, also for private lessons in
institutions. Board schools, mills, &c. Teachers may
be engaged for school classes at the rate of 5s. 6d.

HUTCHESONS' EDUCATIONAL TRUST.
(Constituted by Scheme No. 9 under the Educational
Endowments (Scotland) Act, 1882.)
The income is applied to the maintenance of a
grammar school for boys and a higher class school
for girls ; the education of foundationers, and to free
scholarships, school bursaries, university and techni-
cal college bursaries ; also higher education bursaries
for ghls. Subsidies are paid to the Glasgow and West
of Scotland Technical College, and to the Glasgow
School of Ai-t and Haldane's Academy. Rector of

THE GLASGOW CITY EDUCATIONAL
ENDOWMENTS BOARD.
(Constituted by Scheme No. 10 under the Educa-
tional Endowments (Scotland) Act, 1882.)
The scheme embraces the following endowments :
Anderson's School, Dr. A. Bell's Bequest, Coulter's
Mortification, Scotstarvit Mortification, Murdoch's
School, Hood's School, Maxwell School, Alexander's
iEndowment, M'Grigor's Bequest, Macfarlane's School
and M'Millan's Bequest. The scheme makes provi-
sion for the maintenance of a school for boys, free
scholarships, school bursaries, bursaries for technical
and higher education, university bursaries and advanced
evening class bursaries ; and a subsidy is paid to the
West of Scotland Technical College. The bursaries
are awarded among pupils of public or state-aided
schools in Glasgow, or of any school maintained

BUCHANAN INSTITUTION.
47 Greenhead Street.
Founded on a bequest to the city of Glasgow by
the late James Buchanan, Esq., for the maintenance,
education, and industrial training of destitute boys.
Administered under a scheme issued by Educational
Endowments Commissioners, 8th February, 1890,
The pupils reside with their friends at night, but
receive three substantial meals daily at the institution.
They are taught reading, writing, and arithmetic,
besides gymnastics, tailoring, and carpentry, to fit
them for the navy and army, the merchant and marine
service, and as emigrants to the colonies. Three
hundred boys are educated and maintained at the
institution, which is annually examined by one of
H.M. inspectors.
