EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTIONS.
THE GLASGOW HIGH SCHOOL CLUB.
The objects of the club are generally to promote
the interests of the High School, by the establishment
of prizes in the shape of scholarships, and the en-
couragement of athletics. All who have attended
the Glasgow Grammar School, or the High School of
Glasgow, are eligible as members on payment of
21s. or on payment of 5s. as entry money and an
annual subscription of 2s. 6d. President, Sir James

THE FERGUSON SCHOLARSHIPS.
(Instituted 1860.)
These Scholarships are six in number, of the value
of £80 each, tenable for two years, three of which
are competed for in Glasgow at the end of Sep-
tember annually ; one in classics, one in mathematics,
and one in mental philosophy. Secretary to the

THE WEST OF SCOTLAND SANITARY
ASSOCIATION.

The object of this association is to provide its
members at moderate cost with such advice and
supervision as shall insure the proper sanitary condi-
tion of their own dwellings. This object is attained
by the members' houses being annually inspected and
reported on by our experienced engineers. Annual
subscription for town houses, 21s. Special arrange-
ments made for coast and country houses.
SCOTTISH ASSISTANT TEACHERS'
ASSOCIATION.
(Glasgow District).
Membership, 1894.
The object of this Association is to further the
professional interests of its members. All certifi-
cated assistant teachers are eligible for membership.
The annual subscription is one shilling (payment of- 1
subscription to constitute membership). The annual
meeting is held on the third Friday of March, at
which, in addition to other business, reports of secre-
taries and treasurer are submitted and office-bearers i
elected.

The objects of the Society are: — The cultivation of
the Gaelic Language ; the cultivation and development
of Celtic Philology, Literature, and Music; the
elucidation of Celtic antiquities; and the fostering of
a Celtic spirit among the Highlanders of Glasgow.
Persons of Celtic extraction, or such as take an interest
in its objects, are eligible to become members. The
Subscriptions of Members to the Funds of the Society
are: — Life Members, one payment of £2 2s. ; Honorary
Members, annually, Ladies 3s., Gentlemen 7s. 6d. ;
Ordinary Members, annually, 3s. The Society meets,
in the Religious Institution Rooms, Buchanan Street,
on the last" Tuesday of each Month, from October to
April.

The object of the institution is to afford faciUties
to working men for social intercourse, mutual im-
provement, instruction, and rational recreation. It
is open daily from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. The library
contains 2000 volumes, including a number of re-
cently issued works. The reading room is supplied
with all the leading newspapers and magazines.
The large halls are allotted for games, including
billiards, bagatelle, summer ice, draughts, and chess.
Annual subscription, including library, 4s.; half-
yearly subscription, 2s. 6d. ; monthly ticket, 6d. ;
do., including library, 8d. ; visitors, Id.
