MUNICIPAL WARDS OF THE CITY.
Under the Burgh Reform Act, the Magistrates and Councillors
are elected by the parliamentary electors within the burgh, which
is, for the convenience of polling, divided into three Wards, each
of which sends six representatives to the Town Council. Of these
two retire every year, when their places are, of course, supplied by
a new election.
First Ward. — To consist of that portion of the royalty which
is included within the following boundary, viz. -.—Beginning
on the seashore, at the point where the north boundary of the
royalty touches the shore, and following the said north boundary
westward, till it touches the turnpike road leading from In-
verury to Aberdeen ; southward, along that road and the Gal-
lowga'te to Broad-street, and along Broad-street to Union-
street ; along Union-street ; along Union-street to Castle-
street and Justice-street, eastward to Park-lane, along Park-
lane and the road or street leading along the foot of the
Castlehill to James-street; along James-street, and continu-
ing in a line due south from the termination of the same to the
Dee ; eastward, along the Dee to the mouth of that river, and
thence northward along the seashore to the point where the
north boundary of the royalty touches the shore. — Polling-
place; in the Court-house.
Second Ward To consist of that portion of the royalty which
is included within the following boundary, viz. : — Beginning at
the centre of Union-street, opposite the Back-wynd, and keep-
ing along the Back-wynd to Schoolhill ; westward, along
Schoolhill and Woolmanhill to the point where the Millburn
crosses Spa-street, near the steps of Gilcomston ; from that
point northward by the boundary of the royalty, and following
the said boundary eastward, till it meets the north-west point
of the boundary of the First Ward ; then southward by the
Inverury road and Gallowgate to Broad-street, and along
Broad-street to Union-street ; along Castle-street and Justice-
street eastward to Park-lane ; along Park-lane and the road
or street leading along the foot of Castlehill to Justice-street,
and continued in a line due south from the termination of the
same to the Dee ; thence up the river to where the same is in-
tersected by a line drawn south in continuation of the Shore-
brae ; thence up the said line, Shorebrae, and Shiprow, to
Union-street, and along Union-street westward to the point
opposite the Back-wynd, where the description of the Ward be-
gan. — Polling-place, Cruickshank's Hall, Schoolhill.
