Hours for admission of patients — In-door patients
with lines from 12 to 1 o'clock daily (Sundays ex-
cepted) ; accident and urgent cases admitted at any
hour.
Friends admitted by card to see patients on Tues-
days and Fridays from 3 to 4 o'clock, and on Sunday
forenoons from 11 to 12 o'clock.
The section of the Infirmary now open provides
accommodation for 80 patients ; but an additional
pavilion is at present in course of erection, thereby
increasing the accommodation to 160 beds. The
institution being entirely dependent on voluntary
contributions, the governors will be glad to receive
subscriptions on behalf of either the building or
maintenance funds, intimation of which may be
made to any of the office-bearers.
GLASGOW OPHTHALMIC INSTITUTION
FOR DISEASES AND INJURIES OF THE EYE.

Every subscriber of £1 Is. annually, and donor of
£5 in one sum towards the maintenance, shall have
the privilege of recommending three patients yearly,
with three additional recommendations for every
additional subscription of £1 Is., or donation of £5.
The number of new patients admitted to the bene-
fits of the Institution last year was 3071 ; of these
2616 were treated as out-door patients, while 4o5
were admitted into the house for important operations.
The Institution is open to out-door patients daily,
between the hours of 1 and 3 p.m. Cases of acci-
dent admitted at any hour. Operations performed
on Wednesdays and Saturdays. A course of Lectures
and Clinical Instruction for Medical Students is given
during the summer and winter sessions.

THE GLASGOW SOUTHERN MEDICAL
SOCIETY.
This Society was instituted in 1844 for mutual
improvement in professional knowledge, for mutual
assistance in professional duties, and for the pro-
motion of amicable feelings amongst the members.
The society meets at 11 Bridge Street every alternate
Thursday from October to May (inclusive). Secre-

This charitable institution is supported by public
and voluntary subscription, its object being the ad-
vancement of this special department of medical
science by lectures and clinical teaching to students,
and the gratuitous treatment of poor persons suifer-
ing from all forms of ear disease and deafness.
Number of patients treated annually over 1000.
The hospital, which contains 12 beds for in-door
patients, is always open for urgent cases. Out-door
patients are seen daily at 2 p.m. by Dr. Barr and

For the Study and Treatment of Special Diseases,
100 Elderslie Street.
The Polyklmik was established in 1885 for the
double purpose of giving gratuitous advice to de-
serving poor people, and of providing opportunities
to senior students for studying the diseases of special
organs under the medical and surgical staff.
Departments. — Diseases peculiar to women ;
diseases of the eye ; diseases of the chest ; diseases
of the genito-urinary organs ; diseases of the ear,
throat, and nose; and diseases of the skin. Each
department is under a specialist. The dispensary
is open daily, and accommodation is provided for the
treatment of patients indoor.
