THIS Corporation was formed in 1870, for the ap-
plication of the Mutual Principle (which had
been eminently successful in Life and Marine) to
Fire Insurance, it being evidently the most equitable
system, as all the profits are divided amongst the
Insured who are directly interested in them, and
not paid as Dividends to Shareholders, as in the
case of Proprietary Offices.
The principal distinctive features of this Corpora-
tion are : —
The division of all profits amongst the Members.
The very low percentage of Working Expenses.
Discounts on Premiums and Allowances for ap-
proved Appliances for the Extinction of Fire.
Freedom from the restraint of the Tariff System.
