a capital of upwards of seven thousand pounds. Its
members (after one year's probation) are entitled to
10s. 6d. per -week sick benefit, for whatever length
of time they may be unable to attend their usual
avocations. Immediately after the entry money is
paid, the society becomes liable for the funeral money
■of £10. For the year ending 30th December, 1865,
£886 8s. 6d. was paid on account of sick benefit and
funeral money from the funds of the society. The
entry is one quarter's contribution (which ranges
from 4s. lOd. at 19, to lis. 7^d. at 45), and 2s. 6d.
for certificates, &c.

A member of this society, who has been 12 months
enrolled, on being incapacitated bj r disease, accident,
or infirmity, from following his usual avocations, is
entitled to receive £1 per week. On the death of a
member, who has been 12 months enrolled, the
society pays £10 to the nearest of kin, or other per-
son taking charge of bis funeral. Annual meeting
in Glasgow on the second Friday of January. The
directors meet on the first Tuesday of each month.
Number of members, 884 ; annual contributions
of members, £1860 4s. 7d. ; total annual income,
£2600 ; amount of funds invested or in bank,
£16,219 lis. Ojd, benefits paid since the formation
of the society, £12,952 18s. 4d. Forms of appli-

GLASGOW SOCIETY OF SONS OF MINIS-
TERS OF THE CHURCH OF SCOTLAND,
Was instituted 1790; incorporated by a Charter
from the City of Glasgow, 1791. Their annual
meeting is held on the last Thursday of March.

The stated meetings are on the last Thursdays of
July and November, and on the Thursday before the
annual meeting. They grant no permanent pension.
Applications for pecuniary aid must be made every
year, and lodged with the secretary before- the 1st
of March. The following facts must be distinctly
attested on personal knowledge by respectable per-
sons to whom they are known: — 1 That the appli-
cants are children of a minister of the Church of
Scotland, whose fathers are dead. 2. Tbe age, pro-
gress in education, destination, prospects, er employ-
ment of each child in the family, old or young.
3. How they have hitherto been supported, and the
means of their present subsistence, of whatever kind,
whether certain or preearious, and generally that
the facts set forth in the petitions are truly stated;
in all respects. Applicants to appoint some person
in town to ca'H on the secretary, 45 West George
Street, on the tfsst Tuesday of April, for answers to
their petitions.
The society are also trustees on the Me- Miss
Janet Paisley's Trust Fund, for the benefit of the
daughters of deceased dergytr ieis of t&e Church of
Scotland.
