PERTHSHIRE CHARITABLE.

The principal object of this society, the qualifica-
tion for membership of which consists of a small sum
of entry-money, istoaffordrelief to persons in indigent
circumstances, natives or widows of natives of Perth-
shire, and their children resident in Glasgow and the
neighbourhood, or passing through the city, unex-
pectedly falling into distress.

WEAVERS' SOCIETY OF ANDERSTON.
Instituted 1738.
Duncan M'Alpine, preses; James Steel, treasurer;
J. M. Taylor, writer, clerk. The object of this society
is for the purpose of affording charitable aid to such of
its members and their widows as may be reduced to
destitute circumstances. The fee or entry-money pay-
able by a son or son-in-law of a member, or by an
apprentice indentured to a member (a weaver by trade),
is £1 10s,, and the entrance fee payable by all others
is £2 2s. Members must not be under the age of 14
when admitted, nor above the age of 45, and must be
resident in the district formerly known as the burgh
of Anderston, or neighbourhood thereof.
M'ALPINE'S MORTIFICATION.
Founded in 1811, by Mrs. M'Alpine, who con-
veyed to trustees her property for the maintenance
of poor men and women of the description given in
her will — the former receiving annually £10, and
the latter £5. The trustees are, the Deacon-Con-
vener and the Ministers of eight of the Established
Churches.
