THE Sixteenth Annual General Meeting of the Citt of Glasgow Life
Assurance Company, was- held in the Company's Office in Glasgow, upon 27th
March, 1855. It appeared from the Report by the Directors, that
The new Assurances for the past Year amount to £254,800
The Premiums thereon amount to 6,690
The Annual Revenue from Premiums alone is 48,000
The Sums Assured exceed. 1,560,000
A Bonus Addition for the Past Year of One and a half per cent, was
declared on all Sums Assured by Policies opened on the Participation principle, in
addition to previous Bonuses.
DISTINCTIVE ADVANTAGES.
I. — An Annual Bonus to the Assured, by which Plan each Policy-Holder receives
his share of Profits the very first Year he enters.
II. — Privilege from Entry, to all except seafaring persons, to pass by sea from
one part of the World to another without extra Premium.
III. — Privilege from Entry, on intimation being made to the Directors, to reside
abroad without extra Premium, as under: — NORTH AMERICA, (including
the British Possessions and United States East of 100° of West Longitude,
excepting as regards the more southern States during the period between 1st
Julv and 1st November.)— MADEIRA.— AUSTRALIA.— NEW ZEA-
LAND.— VAN DIEMEN'S LAND.— CAPE OF GOOD HOPE, PORT
NATAL.— BUENOS AYRES.— ALL PLACES from Buenos Ayres South-
ward to Cape Horn, and from thence as far North as Adrica on the West
coast of South America.
IV. — Moderate Rates for other places abroad not specified above.
V. — Privilege after Five Years to reside in any quarter of the World without
extra Premium, on certain conditions explained in the Company s Pamphlet.
VI. — When a Policy falls by non-payment of the Premium from oversight or other
cause, no advantage is taken thereof to deprive the Holder of the Policy of its
full surrender value, and special notice is given that the same will be paid on
application within Three Months. Thus, no one Assured with this Company
can suffer pecuniary loss by what is usually termed " Forfeiture."
