LIFE DEPARTMENT.
^T^HIS Company was Established in 1809, and offers to the Public eve7y benefit Life
-^ Assurance is capable of affording, viz. — 1. Rates of Premium nearly five per cent
lower than most other Offices acting on the system of participation of profits 2. The As-
sured may Qiihsx participate in theprofits to the extent o/ two-thirds, which is the same with
what is generally divided by Mutual Assurance Societies, and at the same time are secured
against all responsibility by the large capital of the Corporation, or may pay a less Premium
for securing a specific sum without ^enoAical additions 3. Premiums may be made payable
either in a Single payment, or by Annual, Half-yearly, or Quarterly Payments 4. Where
Policies effected by parties on their own lives, are assigned to others for onerous causes, the
holders ai'e assured against the risk of the original assured dying by suicide or duelling. — 3.
Advances made on security of Policies of more than three years standing, to the extent of
their value. — 6. A liberal price given for Policies to parties wishing to surrender them. — 7.
No extra Premium required from Naval or Military Gentlemen, unless called into actual ser-
vice 8. No admission-feesor entry -money charged. — 9. Persons insured with this Company
have liberty to pass and repass, in time of peace, from one part of Europe to another without
losing the benefit of their Policies.
FIRE DEPARTMENT.
Property is insured against Loss or Damage by Fire, at the usual Rates of Premium, cor-
responding to the Risk. Loss or Damage by Lightning is m^de good.
FARMING STOCK insured on the Farm and in the Offices without the average clause.
Tables of Premiums, and every other requisite information, will be given at the Head
Office, No. 1, Hanover Street, Edinburgh ; No. 4, New Bank Buildings, Lothbury,
London ; 37j College Green, Dublin, or by any of the Company's Agents, in the princi-
pal towns of Scotland, and Northern Counties of England and Ireland.
