LIFE SOCIETY.
ACCUMULATED CAPITAL, UPWARDS OF L. 1,(500,000.
^l^HIS Society is founded on the Equitable principle of Mutual Guarantee, the whole benefit of its busi-
•*- ness being enjoyed by the Members in the form of Bonuses, added periodically to the sums Insured.
The Premiums (under 4.5 years of age) are nearly ten per cent below the usual rates.
Persons Insuring with this Society thus obtain an immediate advantage in the lowness of its rates, besides
the ultimate benefit of its successive periodical additions to their Policies, arising from the division of the
surplus Capital. Three Septennial Bonuses have already been declared, amounting respectively to L.2(>,
L.'24, and L.25 per cent on the amount of Premiums deposited — the ci'.lculation, in each case, being made
upon the whole Premiums paid from the date of the Policy,
The present income of the Society exceeds L. 130,000 per annum, and the new Policies now issuing are
in the proportion of eight hundred annually.
The subjoined list (exhibiting a few of the earlier Policies, with the additions thereto) will serve to show
the practical operation of the principle of the Society.
The Insured are permitted, without any extra charge, to visit any part of Europe situate between the Elbe
and Brest, and no extra payment is demanded in name of Entry-money, or to defray expenses of manage-
ment.
Thus the Norwich Union Society, in present economy *nd in prospective advantage, is fully equal to any
similar establishment in this kingdom. •
FIRE SOCIETY.
CAPITAL, L.5o0,G00.
This Institution is wholly distinct from the Life Society, and transacts every description of Fire Insurance
business on the most liberal terms. The fulfillment of its engagements is guaranteed by a nilmerous and opu-
lent proprietary, and the insured, who are free from all responsibility, part'cipate with the shareholders in
the profits. The last Dividend paid was at the rate of 10 percent.
Expenses incurred by the removal of Goods, in case of fire, will be defrayed in proportion to the amount
insured.
Losses by fire occasioned by lightning will be made good.
No charge is made for endorsements or alterations.
Tables of rates, and all other information, may be had at the office of the Societies, or of any of the
Agents in Scotland.
