Above 600 PAINTINGS chiefly by the Old blasters.
In connection with the valuable collection of Pictures in the Johnston
Gallery, Straiton House, the Caledonian ^Museum of Practical
Science has been instituted, for exhibiting and giving publicity to the
Works of Artists, Inventors, Mechanics, Manufacturers, INIerchants,
Patentees, &c. free from any charge, and re-deliverable on demand.
That every facility may be given for experiments with Models of Vessels,
Inventions ibr Propelling, or whatever may require water for illustration, a
Canal is prepared in the Museum nearly sixty feet long, and about four feet
"croad, with circular basons eight feet in diameter at each end connected with it;
also a Railway for Models of Locomotive Carriages, Waggons, &c. propelled
by steam or other power. In addition to the above,

1b now forming. A Catalogue of the pictures, &c. is published, and every
information connected with the Museum will be regularly added.
Admission to the Gallery and Museum One Shilling.
Subscribers at £.liils. per annum to be Patrons, and entitled to notice of all
experiments to be exhibited in the Museum, and the use of the Library.
Visitors will also be admitted at 10s 6d per annum, or for six months at Ts, and
Ticket for a Party, not exceeding five, Ss.
