RETIRED PAY—contd.
The Persons authorised to attest Declarations by virtue of the Annual Appropriation Act (provided
the Qualifications which entitle them to attest are fully stated) are as follows :—
In the United Kingdom or any other part of the British Empire,.
Magistrates. Commissioners for Oaths. Ministers of Religion habitually officiating at a place of
worship within 10 miles of the place where the pensioner resides for the time being. (The denomination
and the address of the place of worship must be given.) Physicians or Surgeons registered as such
under the law of the country, and regularly practising within 10 miles of the place where the pensioner
resides for the time being. Officials of Banks registered under the law of the country, namely,
Managers, Secretaries, Accountants, officials for the time being in charge of branch banks, and other
officials authorised by the banks to sign documents on their behalf. (The qualification of the official
and the name of the bank or branch bank must be given.) Officials of Savings Banks registered under
Act of Parliament, namely, Actuaries, Secretaries, Treasurers and Trustees. Police officers of not
1 ess than seven years’ service, in actual charge of the nearest Police Station to the place where the
pensioner resides for the time being.

Officers of His Majesty’s Naval or Military Forces on the active or half-pay or pension lists. Persons
on the active or pension list of the permanent Civil Service of the Crown who are or were on a scale
of salary rising to not less than £300 a year and in receipt of not less than £200 a year.
In the. United Kingdom only.
Postmasters and Postmistresses actually in charge of Post Offices. (The name of the Post Office
must be given.) Head Teachers of Public Elementary and Secondary Schools. (The name of the
school must be given.) Secretaries of Friendly Societies registered under the Friendly Societies Acts.
Examiners of vouchers for non-effective payments in the offices of the Paymaster-General, the Post¬
master-General, the Commissioners of Inland Revenue, and the Commissioners of Customs and Excise.
In Foreign countries.
British Diplomatic or Consular Officers abroad empowered to administer Oaths, and to do notarial
acts under the Act 18 & 19 Viet., c. 42, or amending Act. Notaries Public, or other person competent
by the lex loci (which in the case of employing such other person must be quoted sufficiently for verifi¬
cation) to administer such declarations. Ministers of Religion abroad, resident, for the time being, in
the places or districts of attestation, and duly licensed by Ecclesiastical Authority in the United
Kingdom to officiate as Chaplains in those places or districts.
