'^ Lt.Colonel W. R. Martin served in the Indian mutiny campaign of 1857-58 ; was present with the 38th Foot at the
assault and capture of Meeangunge, siege and capture of Lucknow, and affairs of Barree and Nuggur (Medal with
Clasp). Served with the 19th Punjaub Infantry in China the campaign of i860 (Medal). Served with the 3rd
Punjaub Infantry throughout the Sittana Expedition in 1863 (Medal with Clasp); and afterwards with General
Wilde's Column against the Judon Tribes. ,
"^ Lt.Colonel R. C. Low served in the Sonthal campaign in 1855. Served throughout the Indian mutiny campaigns
of 1857-59; present at the actions of Budlee-ke-Serai and Nudjufghiir, and siege and capture of Delhi; pursuit of the
rebels and taking of Fort Jhnjjur; siege and capture of Lucknow; and as Brigade Major to the Agra Field Force
under Brigadier Showers in pursuit of rebels in Central India (twice mentioned in despatches, Medal with two
Clasps).
*** Lt.Colonel A. K, J. C. Mackenzie served in the Indian mutiny campaign in 1857-58,and was presentat the siege
and capture of Delhi from the 17th July 1857 with ist Punjaub Cavalry, and was engaged in a cavalry afifair in
rear of the camp on nth September; served with column under Brigadier Greathed, and engaged at the actions
cf Boolundshuhur, Allyghur, Agra, and Kanouge; present at relief of Lucknow by Lord Clyde, skirmishes of
Malygungeand Alumbagh and action of Cawnpore; served with a column under Sir Hope Grtint in Oude, and
engaged at Meangunge: present at the siege and capture of Lucknow and affair at Koorsee ; commanded a squad¬
ron of the 1st Punjaub Cavalry at capture of Bareilly and affair of Shahjehanpore (Medal with Clasp).
_ ^* Lt.Colonel A. R. D. Mackenzie served in the Indian mutiny campaigns in 1857-58, and was present during the
siege and assault of Delhi with the Guide Cavaliy, and with Brigadier Showers' Column in the Delhi, Goorgaon,
and Jhujjnr districts. Served with the ist Sikh Cavalry at the siege and capture of Lucknow (wounded), and was
present at the action of the Moosa Bagh (Medal with two Clasps).
*^« Lt.Colonel F. M. AlexanderservedwiththeDharwar Field Force from 5th March till 25th April 1858. Com¬
manded a detachment of the 4th Light Cavalry while serving with the Goruckpore Field Force under Brigadier
Kowcroft from November 1858 till February 1859, and was present at, the aSairs of Koosmee and Bagowra; and in
Bengal and Bundlecund from .January to December 1859 (Medal).
*^* Major R. Beadon served during the Indian mutiny campaigns in 1857-58, and was present at the siege of
Lncknow, skirmish at Tigree, capture of Azimghur and pursuit; at Sanilwar he captured a g-pounder; operations
in the Jugdespore Jungles and pursuit; action at Nonadee and pursuit to the Kymaon Hills (twice mentioned in
despatches, Medal with Clasp). .Served the campaign of i860 in China, including the taking of the Taku Forts,
action at Chankiawan, and surrender of Pekin (Modal with two Clasps).
'^^ Major C. Beadon, prior to entering the Indian Army, served five years as a Midshipman in the Royal Navy,
was on board H.M. ship Algiers at the bombardment and fall of Bomarsund during the Baltic campaign of 1854
under Sir Charles Napier (Medal). Served afterwards in the same ship during the siege and fall of Sevastopol
between the 23rd October 1854 and December 1855, and was present at the taking of Kertch and Kinbourn (Medal
with Clasp). Was engaged in the operations against Canton onboard H.M. ships Calcutta and Elk. Served on
the River Ganges as a Volunteer during the late mutiny in the H.E.I. Company's gunboat Jumna.
_'3o Uajor C. E. Stack served with the Kotah Contingent against the insurgents in the Agra and Mnttra
districts in May and June 1857; and as Aide de Camp to General Polwhele at the battle of Agra on the 5th July
1857 (Medal).
'■^^^ Major R. G. T. Stevenson served in the Indian mutiny campaign in 1858-59, and was present at Jeerun,
assault and capture of Kotah, and in pursuit of Tantia Topee (Medal with Clasp).
^^ Major F. S. Cherry was employed during the Indian mutiny in Shahabad, and engaged at Burhampoor
14th October, Kherec Saugor i6th October, Jugdespore 18th October, Seekreta and Koath Khaz 20th October, and
Aniabad 30th November 1858, and in Bundlecund till June 1859 (Medal).
"^ Major C. A. Moore commanded a detachment of the 2iid Bombay Light Cavalry at the taking of Rewa;
present at the taking of Awah; served with the Field Force in Central India in 1858; present during the operations
in the Mahee Kanta in 1858; and at the night attack of the Khosias at Bhyrannah and during the operations at
Nnggur Parker; present during the operations in Kattywar, and at the taking of the Burda Hills and defeat of
the Wagheers at that place in 1S59 (Medal with Clasp). Served with the 3rd Light Cavalry during the Abyssinian
campaign of 1867-68, and commanded the Regiment at the storming and capture of Magdala (mentioned in de¬
spatches. Medal).
"= Major A. H. Prinsep was present at the mutiny of his Regiment, the 6th Bengal Light Cavalry, at Seal-
kote on the gth July 1857 and was wounded. He afterwards served against the rebels in the Gogaria Jungles,
and was present at the final siege and captui-e of Lucknow (Medal with Clasp).
"^^ Major J. M. C. Galloway was employed during the Indian mutiny in Shahabad, and was engaged at Kheree
7th October, Burhampoor 14th October, Kheree Saugor 16th October, Jugdespore i8th October, and Seekreta and
Koath Khaz 20th October 185S, and in Bundlecund during the whole of 1859 (Medal).
^7 Major T. H. T. Chalon served with the Copal Movable Colimm and Bellary Field Force in 1858, and was
present at the storming of Copal (Medal).
2^ Major T. F. C. Rochfort served during the Indian mutiny campaign in 1857-58, and was present at the siege
and capture of Lncknow, the subse(iuent operations in Oude and actions of Koorsee and Baree (Medal with Clasp).
^"^ Lt.Colonel W. Thompson served in the Nagpore Province to intercept the rebels under Tantia Topee from 9th
November 1858 to 26th January 1859. He served with a column of observation on the ba'nks of the Wurdah river
for the suppression of disturbances in the Nizam's Dominions in conjunction with a column under Sir Hugh Rose
from ist to 30th March 1859.
*" Major H. C. Stevens was employed in Bengal and Bundlecund from January to June 1859.
"^ Lt.Colonel G. W. Cox was employed against the Karen insurgents in 1S57.
2*^ Major A. F. Curtis served with the Bellary Field Force in 1858-59.
'" Major J. S. Irvine served at the relief of Azimghur in April 1858, and in the subsequent pursuit of Koer
Sing (Medal).
2« Major R. G. Birch served with the Volunteer Cavalry with Havelock's Force in 1857, and was severely
wounded at the first relief of Lucknow (Medal with Clasp, and a year's service).
**« Major H. M. Buller served with the Eusofzye Force on the N. W. Frontier of India in 1863, including the
attack on and capture of Umbeyla (Medal with Clasp).
2" Major R. Mon-is served with the 2nd Dragoon Guards in the Indian mutiny campaign in 185S, and was
present at the siege and capture of Lucknow and subsequent operations at Koorsee (Medal with Clasp).
'■'^^ Lt.Colonel H. R. Elliot was employed on field service in the Raichore Doab from 4th June to 5th August 1858.
'*' Lt.Colonel W. Rowlandson served in the Indian mutiny campaign in 1857-58, and was present at the actions
of Seerowlie and Ghurra, and reoccupation of Humeerpore (Medal).
251 Major G. C. Jackson served with the Eusnfzai Field Force in 1863, and was present at the reconnaissance and
affair in the Chumla V^alley, at the storming of the Conical Hill, destruction of Lalloo, and burning of Umbeyla
(mentioned in despatches). Served with the Ab.yssinian Expedition in 1868, and was present at the action
of Arogee and capture of Magdala (mentioned in despatches, and received the approbation of Government, Medal).
*='2 Major C. C. Morris served during the suppression of the Indian mutiny in the Shahabad district, and was
present at the affair at Berhampore on the 14th October 1858.
''^ Lt.Colonel F. D. Plowden served during the Indian mutiny campaign of 1858-59, and accompanied General
Frank's Column on the Oude frontier, and was engaged at the capture of Attrowlee (Medal).
^'■* Lt.Colonel F. Beeching served with the field force under Major Hawks at Keonghut for the suppression of a
rebellion amongst the Hill Tribes of the Cuttack Tributary Mahals.
"' Lt.Colonel J. M. Stewart served in the Jynteah Hills during the rebellion of 1862-63, and was present at the
assaultand capture of the stockades of Ookis, Mugbarai, and Oomkrong.
'^^ Lt.Colonel H. H. C. G.Warrington was employed on field service in the Saugor and Norbudda Territories in the
suppression of the Indian mutiny from the 6th February 1858.
25' Lt.Colonel F. G. Rideout was employed in suppressing the Khond outbreak in Boad in May and June 1862.
25* Lt.Colonel W. C. Chowne served with"the 19th Punjaub Infantry in the campaign of i860 in China (Medal).
