Brigadier Russell at the second relief of Lucknow,
at the Alumbagh, and at the siege and capture of
Lucknow; also present with the 84th Regiment
at the relief of Azimghur and pursuit of Koer Sing
(mentioned in despatches. Medal with two Clasps).
3 Major Hudson sei-ved with the 97th Regiment
in the Indian campaign of 1857-58, and was pre¬
sent in the actions of Chanda, Umeerpore. and
Sultanpore, and at the siege and capture of Luck¬
now (Medal with Clasp).
* Major Brownrigg served with the 84th Regi¬
ment in the Indian campaign of 1857-58, includ¬
ing the final operations in the Shahabad district
(Medal).

• Sir David Russell commanded the 5th Brigade at the second relief of Lucknow—severely wounded and par¬
ticularly mentioned in despatches as having much distinguished himself {CB.); commanded jst Brigade under
Outram at the repulse of several attacks on the Alumbagh; at the fall of Lucknow he commanded 2nd Brigade
which stormed the Imaumbarra and captured the Kaiserbagh (Medal with Clasp).
6 Lieut. Lepperd served with the 80th Regiment in the Burmese war of 1852-53, and was present at the capture
■of Martaban with the advance party, operations before Rangoon on the 12th 13th and 14th April, and capture of
the Great Dagon Pagoda with the storming party, defence of Martaban from May to October, several operations in
its vicinity, and repulse of the night attack on Prome (Medal with Clasp for Pegu). Served with the 84th Regiment
in the Indian mutiny campaign of 1857-58, joined Havelock's Force at Mungarwar, and was present in both actions at
Buseerutgunge, actions of Boorbeakechowkee, Bithoor, Mungarwar, and Alumbagh, defence of the AJumbagh from
25th Sept. to 13th Nov. 1857; proceeded with Lord Clyde's Force to the second relief of Lucknow, and was present
at the storming of the Secunderabagh; ser\'ed with Outram's Force during the occupation of the Alumbagh, including
the repulse of the numerous attacks on that position, and also in the operations ending in the siege and capture of
Lucknow; after which present at the relief of Azimghur, pursuit of Koer Sing, and several actions in Shahabad,
until the final suppression of the rebellion in that district (Medal with two Clasps, and a year's service).
7 Captain Craig served in the Eastern campaign of 1854-55, including the battles of Alma and Inkerman, siege
and fall of Sebastopol, sortie of 26th Oct., and as a volunteer with the spiking party on the 8th September (Medal
with three Clasps, and Turkish Medal).
8 Quarter Master Boulger served in the Indian mutiny campaign of 1857-58; joined Havelock's force on its first
taking the field at Allahabad in June 1857, and was in the advanced party which left Cawnpore on the 30th June
under Major Reynold, and engaged in many skirmishes while destroying all disafi'ected villages between Allahabad
and Futtehpore, and while keeping communications open with the river party ; afterwards present at the action,?
of Puttehpore, Aoung, Pandoo Nuddee, Cawnpore. Oonao, Buseerut Gunge (both actions), Boorbeeake Chowkee,
Bithoor, Mungarwar, and Alumbaugh, and was in the storming party which crossed the bridge in the first relief of
Lucknow, and shot the gunner in the act of firing a 68-pounder loaded with grape, canister, stones, glass, &c., and
he was the first man to force through the masked battery in front, for which ho was mentioned in General orders;
present with the Grenadier company of 50 men at the storming of the jail, from which the dead bodies of 380
Sepoys were afterwards removed; was a volunteer with the storming party at 3 a.m., 29th September, to blow up
the enemy's magazine, destroy their mines, and burst 4 mortars and 13 guns facing the Residency—wounded through
the left thigh and right hand with loss of middle finger; present throughout the subsequent defeuce of the Residency
and storming of the Hirn Kanah—wounded (Victoria Cross, Medal with Clasp, and a year's service).
