101 Major General Newton served with the Coldstream Guards in the Crimean Campaign from
18th Oct. 1854 to 8th April 1855 including the battles of Balaklava and Inkerman, and siege of
Sebastopol (Medal and three Clasps, 5th Class of the Medjidie, and Turkish Medal).
102 Major General Dixon served with the 77th Regt. the Eastern campaign of 1854-55,
including the battles of Alma and Inkerman, and siege of Sebastopol (Medal and Clasps,
Brevet Lt.-Colonel, CB., Knight of the Legion of Honor, 4th Class of the INIedjidie, and
Turkish Medal).
103 Major General Milman served with the Coldstream Guards in the Canadian rebellion in
1838. Served in India during the mutiny, and commanded a field force in the Ghazeepore
district in Dec. 1857, preventing the rebels crossing the Gogra and Ganges at their junction,
and at Azinjghur on IG March 1858 ; was engaged with the enemy at Atrowlea and Koelsa on
21st March. Commanded the left wing 37th Regt. at Azimghur until relieved by Lugard's
force on 15 April ; held a bridge on the Benares road with a small picquet against a large
force of mutineers on 9 April and secured the passage of a large convoy of stores and am¬
munition into the Azimghur entrenchment (Medal).
104 Major General Perceval served with the Coldstream Guards at the siege and fall of
Sebastopol from 8 April 1855 (Medal with Clasp, and Turkish Medal).
105 Major General Cooper commanded the Reserve Battalion 45th Regt. in the Kaffir war
of 1846-47, and a wing of the Regt. throughout the Kaffir war of 1850-53 (Medal), and was
appointed Commandant of the Natal Colony at the close of the war.
106 Major General Rumley served with the 6th Regt. through the Kaffir war in 1847
(Medal).
107 Sir Henry Storks served as Assistant Adjutant General at the Cape of Good Hope during
the Kaffir war of 1846-47 (Medal). Commanded the British Forces and all the Military Estab¬
lishments from the Bosphorus to Smyrna during the Russian War, and superintended the
evacuation of Turkey by the British Army after the termination of hostilities in 185fi.
108 Major General T. C. Smith, prior to entering the Army, served for a short period in the
Navy, and was three times wounded. He served in the Peninsula from June 1813 to the end
of that war in 1814, and was present at the affair of Ordal. He served also the campaign of
1815, and was wounded at the battle of Waterloo.
109 Major General Pott served the Gwalior campaign of 1843-44 and was present at the
battle of Maharajpore (Bronze Star).
110 Major General Morris served in the Eastern campaign of 1854-55, and was present at
the siege and fall of Sebastopol (Medal and Clasp, Turkish Medal, and 5th Class of the Med¬
jidie).
111 Major General Hodge commanded the 4th Dragoon Guards in the Eastern campaign of
1854-55 ; was on board H.M.S. Sanspareil in the naval attack on Sebastopol, 17th Oct. 1854 ;
also present at the battles of Balaklava and Inkerman, siege of Sebastopol, night-attack on
Russian outposts, 19th Feb. and battle of Tchernaya, 16 Aug. 1855 (Medal and Clasps, CB.,
Officer of the Legion of Honor, 3rd Class of the Medjidie, and Turkish Medal).
112 Major General Crombie embarked in Feb. 1854 with the Coldstream Guards for Turkey,
and served in Bulgaria.
113 Major General Doherty served with tho 14th Lt. Dragoons throughout the Punjaub
campaign of 1848-9, including the action of Ramnuggur, passage of the Chenab, battles of
Chillianwallah and Goojerat, pursuit of the enemy across the Jhelum, and of the Affghans
over the Indus through the Khyber Pass (Medal and Clasps). At Uamnuggur he brought
the charging squadrons, under Coh Havelock who was killed, across the nullah and out of the
enemy's entrenchments; and at Goojerat he commanded a body of H.M. Dragoons and Native
Light Cavalry.
114 Major General Ferryman commanded the 89th Regt. at the siege and fall of Sebastopol
from 15th Dec, 1854, and attacks on the 18th June and 8lh Sept. (Medal and Clasp, Knight of
the Legion of Honor, 4th Class of the Medjidie, and Turkish Medal).
115 Miijor General W. J. Ridley served with tlie Scots Fusilier Guards the Eastern campaign
of 1854 and up to 10 January 1855, including the battles of Alma (horse shot), Balaklava, and
Inkerman, siege of Sebastopol, and sortie on tho 2Gth Oct. (Medal with four Clasps, 5th Class
of the Medjidie, and Turkish Medal).
116 Lieut.General James served in the Peninsula and France, from Oct. 1812 to April 1814,
including the battles of Vittoria, the Pyrenees, Nivelle, and Orthes, for which he has received
the Silver War Medal with four Clasps. Served subsequently in tho American war.
117 Major General Faber served with the 49th Regt. throughout the war with China (Medal),
and was present at the first and second captures of Chusan, storm and capture of the heights above
Canton, attack and capture of Amoy and of Chinhae (mentioned in despatches, and Brevet of
Major), occupation of Ningpo and repulse of the night attack, attack and capture of the enemy's
entrenched camp on the heights of Segoan, of Chapoo, and of Woosung, and investment of
Nankin. Served in the Indian campaign in 1857-58 in command of the 53rd Regt., and was
present at the battle of Cawnpore on 6th Dec. 1857, and in the affair at Seraighat (mentioned
in despatches. Medal and Clasp).
118 Major General Burnett served with Brigadier General Wheeler's torce in the Punjaub
in 1848-49 (Medal).
119 Sir John Garvock served on Sir Harry Smith's staff in the Kaflir war during 1850-52
(Medal). He also acted as Adjutant General and Quarter Master General to Sir Harry
Smith in the action with and defeat of the rebel Boers at Bloem Plaats (South Africa),
29th August 1848. Was a Major of Brigade in Sir Harry Smith's Division throughout the
Sikh campaign of 1845-46, and was present at the battles of Moodkee, Ferozeshah (horse
shot under him), Buddiwal, Aliwal,and Sobraon, where he was himself severely wounded, and
his horse struck in three places (Medal and three Clasps). Commanded the Eusofzaie field
