Brigadier General Sir O. V. Tanner from the 2nd Sepiember to the 2nd December 1884.

iS£7-iS, and present at the actions oi'Huldwanee on the 17th Sept. 1857 and 1st Jan. 1858, and Cherpoorah ou i8th
Feb. 1858, and saved the life of his commanding Officer at the risk of his own (Medal).
^*" Colonel C. F. J. Skottowe served with the Turkish Contingent in the Crimea during the Russian war, and
was present at the defence and occupation of Kertch. Served as a volunteer with the 35th Madras Native Infantry
.1 r.ring the Burmese war of 1852-53, and was present at the capture of Prome 9th and loth October 1852, at Nowany
from 19th October to 20th December 1852; accompanied the force under Sir John Cheape to Meeaday, and present
at the attack of the stockades 30th January 1853, and other minor affairs (.Medal with Clasp for Pegu).
^'' Colonel F. J. Smith served as an Assistant Field Engineer with tlie Okamundel Field Force in 1859. Served
with the Abyssinian Expeditionary Force, and had charge of the survey and works proposed and partly executed
iu connection with the supply of water to Zonlla from Koomeylee, 12 miles (Medal).
*- Colonel G. W. Smith served with the 98th Regiment in the Peshawur Expeditionary Force on the Euzofzie
Frontier under Sir Sidney Cotton iu April and May 1858, and at the affair with the Hindostaueo fanatics ou the
Heights of tho Sitana on the 4th May (Medal with Clasp). Served in the Afghan war iu 1878-79 as Assistant
-idjutant General with the I'eshawur Valley Field Force, and was present at the capture of Ali Musj]d (men-
tioued in despatt^hes. Brevet of Major, iledal with Clasp).
^^ Colonel J. Smyth commanded the 69th Regiment during the repulse of an iacarsion of Fenians into Canada in
May 1070.
^'' Colonel R. G. Smyth served in the Indian Mutiny campaign, and was present at tho final siege aud capture
of Lucknow in 1858 (Moual with Clasp).

the landing at Hallilah Bay, assault and capture of Beshire, and surrender of Bushire, at Borazjoon (wounded),and
action of Khooshab; commanded the Left Troop of the Squadron 3rd Light Cavalry, whioh charged and broke the
Persian square (horse wounded. Medal with Clasp). Served with the Central India Field Force under Sir Hugh
Rose, including siege and capture of liatghur, relief of Saugor, capture of Garrokota, forcing of tho Muddenporo
Pass, siege and storm of Jhansi, battle of Koonch, battle of Muttra, the three engagements at Jalowlee on the River
Jumna (acted as Quarter Master General to the Second Brigade), capture of Calpee, capiure of the cautonuient, of
Morar, tiual pursuit of the enemy under Sir Robert Napier, battle of Jowra Alipore; also served against the rebels
in the Jhansi and Jaloun districts during the monsoon of 1S58 (Medal wilh Clasp).
''^ Colonel G. W. Stacpoole served with the i8th Royal Irish iu the Burmese campaign of 1852-53 (Medal with
Clasp for Pegu). Also iu the Crimea from 30th December 1S54 to nth April 1855, including the siege of Sebastopol
(Medal with Clasp, and Turkish Medal).

with Clasp). Served in the North-West Frontier eampaign of 1863-64 as Staff Otiicer of the Field Foi-eo under
Colonel Maodonald (Medal with Clusp). Served in the Atijhan war in 1878-79 with the Peshawur Valley Field
Force and was present at the attack and capture of Ali Musjid aud with the expeditions into the Bazar aud
Lughman Valleys (Medal with Clasp).

the siege and .surrender of Aloollan (Medal with Clasp). Served with the Persian expedition in 1856-57, including
the capture of Mohumra (Medal with Clasp).
'■'^'■^ Colonel John Stevenson served with the 54th Regiment during the Indian Mutiny, including Lord Clyde's
campaign in Oude in 1858-59 (Medal). Served also in the Bhootan Expedition of 1864-65 (Medal with Clasp).
'■''■>* Colonel G. G. Stewart served in the China war in i860, and was present at the capture of Sinho aad Tangku
and at the occupation of Tientsin (Medal with Clasp).

including the battles of Alma aud Inkerman, and siege of Sebastopol (Medal with three Clasps, 5th Class of Iho

in the Egyptian war of 1882, aud commanded the Battalion at the battle of Tal-el-Keoir (meniioned in despatches,
CB,, Medal with Clasp, 3rd Class of the Medjidie, and Khedive's Star).
